Attraction Distraction

Monday, August 22nd, 2011

So my buddy Danleo is leavin for Canada soon and organised a little bash in Billy Byrnes pub in Kilkenny. ‘Attraction Distraction’ was two days of painting and music delights. Mr Steve McCarthy did a whopper piece alongside Dan and myself, and pon the tunes were Captain Moonlight and The Kilo to name but a few. Shouts to Darragh Byrne for putting together the savage video of the weekend which is below, and there’ll be photos of the finished piece up soon in my toadally amazing Gallery section nahmean.

Lakker are deadly

Savage interview and mix from the Lakker lads here. The Dublin pairing of Dara Smith  and Ian McDonnell (who also goes under the name Eomac) have been ninjas of the electronic music variety since way back when, and have gathered up quite a bit of momentum and international attention (some chap called Aphex Twin played THREE of their tracks at the Forbidden Fruit Festival this year).

Mix – Lakker by Futuresequence on Mixcloud

Another one from them below, recorded live at the Jigs and Rigs Festival 2011 on Rathlin Island. I am weepy face for missing this.

Check their blog too, they have free tunes for download every now and again. Stay tuned for upcoming release from the lads on Berlin’s Killekill label too…

No Place Like Dome

Wednesday, August 17th, 2011

Tis only six weeks after so probably overdue for a little write-up. Well, not so much a write-up as a paste-up. Here’s a bunch of photos, and there’s a great little video here.

Friz and I were asked to paint a piece each, above is mine and below is hers. Class, non?

Seems like Africa Hitech had a non-advertised presence at the festival…

Was there for less than 24 hours but managed to get a good bit in, This Side Up and The Hot Sprockets were specially good, and the general buzz at the place was savage, no money allowed to change hands y’see, and there was a big effigy burnin fireshow yoke round midnight. Deadly craic. And a tent that has free tea and coffee the whole time. Roll on next year!
