Big tings up North!

Thursday, October 23rd, 2014

Hefty lineup from the Rudimentary boyos this weekend. Richie !Kaboogie and mynameisjohn, as well as the sublime (yes I used that word) Touchy Subject.

The lads already hooked up to create this mix and have a chat in Rudimentary-curated Mix Exchange.

Two serious production talents well worth checking out, and solid DJs both. Event page is over here.

Belfast: Culture Night an ting

Monday, October 7th, 2013

Was up in Belfast last weekend to paint as part of Culture Night 2013. Deadly to see so many of the crew, like KVLR, Friz and Danleo (to name but a few!). Caught the fundraiser gig for this project on the Saturday too, shouts to the Rudimentary lads for throwing a fine party. More on that project later, for now, eat these photos nomnomnomnom:

Ayo, was up in Belfast a few weeks back for a long-overdue visit. Got to catch up with my fellow Spoomers and paint in the T13 skatepark (a giant warehouse down in the docks).

Big ups to the following: LIVING LEGEND Adam Turkington and Seedhead Arts for getting us all together, the weather controllers for aiming that sunshine in at us, big ups MarcaMix for the chats there and back (let’s do a piece sooooon man!), big ups the mighty Gerry and Friz for the hospitalities, KVLR for keeping GLOVE MAN at bay, Dave McClelland and Dogboy for holding it down and Andy McHugh for being Andy (check his new night, Hungry Ear, here – big tings a gwan!).

Friday, January 21st, 2011

This Saturday 22 January sees all the people listed on the flyer above play in Belfast. Fairly whopper line-up, some big names in there but maybe more interesting is the gathering of so many diverse Belfast crews and artists in one place; Acroplane, Pressure, Ecker, these heads know their shit, and the whole thing is only £8 for the day! Belfast Electronic Music Festival, SO IT IS!

Bass Clef in Belfast

Friday, December 10th, 2010

Tonight folks. Thanks to the good people behind Rudimentary Records. Here’s what they say:

“BASS CLEF – Carnival Bass

Black Box

10th December 2010

The London-dwelling producer and live performer has earned himself a
considerable cult following over the years, first turning heads with
his distinctive 2006 debut LP, A Smile Is A Curve That Straightens
Most Things – which combined influences from grime, dancehall,
dubstep, with an all too rare dose of humour, heartbreak and humanity
worked into the equation .

He is a live act with real dance-floor pressure, his live show
bypasses laptop/looping and has an infectious and giddy allure. Hot as
hell party-starter. Following countless club appearances at Big Chill,
Sonar, Fabric, Bloc Weekend the Bass Clef one-man soundsystem is now
in full effect across the globe with debut shows in Australia and a
full EU tour 2010. Standout cut ‘Promises’ has garnered radio play
from Huw Stephens, Mary Anne Hobbs & Trevor Nelson already and has yet
to be promo’d. Now he makes his Debut appearance in Belfast bringing
his carnival feel to the Black Box for a christmas shindig with bass!”

Half thinking of hopping on a bus up that way now…
