Thanky thank

Monday, July 16th, 2012

A massive thank you to Paul White and Mo Kolours for their live set at !Kaboogie a few weeks back. Quick snippet in the video above. One of the best livesets I’ve seen in a good while, and going by the way the crowd was reacting, they were diggin it too. The lads were visibly enjoying their set as they swapped between drums, percussion and buttons, fantastic to see artists so on top of their game killing it in an intimate venue. We got the night recorded so will be throwing their set up on the Audio section of the !kaboogie homepage in the next few days, watch this space! Check out Paul and Mo‘s pages and please support the artists!

!Kaboogie Stat!K is a new series of gigs run by !kaboogie. In a revolutionary era in music and the visual practice, it will focus on new experimental music and related work in audio visual performance. The aim of these gigs is to explore the intersection of noise, sound art and experimental composition with beats and club music.

Stat!K will also focus on presenting and developing the new wave of musically integrated visuals. These include; the new aesthetic, audio reactive and generative software process, visual programming languages,   projection mapping, video synthesis, data visualisation, processed dance,  high res open source video etc.

We plan to do this in the context of what we do best, providing fun spaces for open minded audiences to enjoy hard and cutting edge sounds in a club environment.

Another aim is to foster links with international practitioners, scenes, labels and festivals.

For an idea of the artists we will be hosting and working with examine the rosters of; Raster Noton, important , PAN , Blackest ever Black, Digitalis, Hospital Productions.  We will also be taking inspiration from festivals like Unsound(po), Supersonic (uk), Ars Electronica(de) , Transmediale(de), Hunters Moon (ire)etc.

Kaboogie Bizniz of the H-ci and Warren Knowles Variety

Wednesday, April 11th, 2012

Total megazoid beats dripping in bass juice this Saturday, FOR REALZZZZZZ.

H-ci is a purveyor of beats, whether acoustic as a jazz drummer, or electronic under one of his monikers. Some of yis might be familiar with his electro-crunch track ‘CFRmx2’ which appeared on the mystical and legendary third !kaboogie sampler (http://www.kaboogie.net/label/release/kaboogie-label-sampler-volume-3/). As well as ambient pieces (such as his ‘Bottlenote’ series, available here: http://shaneodonovan.bandcamp.com/), he his currently working on more beat-driven tracks, with a full EP forthcoming on Kaboogie Music. While yr waiting on that to drop, swing down to King 7 to check out what promisies to be a proper badman liveset that will make you wiggle your bits.

Cork-based DJ and producer Warren Knowles will be warming up by laying down a set of strictly vinyl electronics. With a background in techno (Sir Henrys in Cork, Influx in Dublin… ), this guys got over a decade experience on the decks: he’s resident DJ for one of our favourite crews, Electric Underground, and has supported the likes of Milanese, Jerome Hill, Muziq, Shackleton and Luke Vibert, to name but a few. Expect a mixed bag of quality bass-heavy vibes from this man…
